"Ebb tide" Cattle Point oil 11 x 14

I didn't notice Mount Baker in the distant haze until I started painting the sky - then there it was ... soft and buttery like an illusion.
Once again, the gulls on the rocks were facing into the wind. But then when I got it back home I noticed the painting was too cluttered so I simplified it and renamed it "Sails and Seagulls."

'Camas Meadow'

Hi everyone,
This is my effort from two weeks ago at the Uplands
Park/Cattle Point paint out. If your wanting to
paint Camas Lily's this spring better get crackin' as they are
already starting to shrivel in the more sunny spots.

'Camas Trail'

If you enjoy painting wildflowers, in particular,
Camas and Shooting Stars, you want to get out there
pretty quick as they are coming into the top of the
bloom now. This was painted last week in Uplands Park.

'Spring Sky-Little Trial Island'

Hi everyone!
Well the weather does show some promise from time
to time. This is the piece I came up with while painting
one afternoon recently with Ken Faulks.
Adam Noonan dropped by and took some pics
that you can see on the ALFS website.
The cloud display was nothing short of
spectacular that day!

'Snowy Coffin Island'

Though I didn't make it out Friday morning I did
get out after lunch for a paint. The Coffin Islands are
on the north side of the harbour close to the entrance to
West Bay. The park can be accessed off Esquimalt Rd.

'Easterly Gale - Albert Head'

This my effort from this mornings excursion to a
gale blown Albert Head. Unlike a few hardier souls,
this old soldier painted inside the truck.
This was my first from behind the windshield and
I will need to get a better set-up for next time.

"Little Brown Pot" oil 11 x 14

A plein Air painting done behind a glass door looking out - I have been watching DVDs by the late Helen van Wyk whose style arises out of the classic European painters. She was quite the gal, and I learned a lot  from her many amusing tips. R.I.P. Helen.
This is my own still life arrangement which I approached using her precepts.
