'October Sunrise-Cox Bay'

This is one of the paintings from a recent trip to Tofino.
The beach that I was standing on separates
Chesterman Beach from Cox Bay. A very exciting spot
to paint from as you have to watch for the rising tide both
in front and behind you.

"Pat Bay Berry Tree" oil 6 x 8

I arrived late for the morning's paint-out with the Al Frescoes. Frank looked at his watch and said that I had 45 minutes to get my work done before Show 'n Tell time at noon!
So, liking a challenge, I went ahead and dashed off this lil' 6 x 8 in 42 minutes. Does it work? COMMENTS (see below) are invited.

"Alannah"

I guess this not strictly PLEIN AIR cos it wasn't done outside in the open air - instead it was painted indoors at Goward House yesterday in an approach we know as "alla prima" = all at once. It took about three hours painting from life. It isn't a good likeness of Alannah but I like the brushwork and the colours.

'Salt Spring Harvest'

I painted this piece while on a short trip to Salt Spring
Island during that September summer a couple of weeks
ago. Several Pileated woodpeckers were in the area
while we were painting.

"Wild Sweet peas" oil 11 x 14 canvas on panel

The wild sweet peas grow on the slopes of the Dallas Road cliffs at this time of the year. I spent forty minutes waiting or the fog to lift and stood around chatting to other artists. A wonderful morning. Two hours en plein air.
